Community

Building community through stakeholder engagement.

Even though you have taken the necessary steps to fostering a more inclusive club environment – improving accessibility, updating policies, or training staff — you might still look around and wonder: why don’t we seem to attract more members with disability at our club?

Most likely, they don’t know about you and what your club offers!

The most inclusive clubs are visible and connected in their community. They’ve built relationships with schools, local councils, disability service providers, and community organisations. These partnerships help spread the word and reach the people who would benefit from being part of your sports club!

Think about this: after reaching out to a local disability organisation, your club gets invited to a community sports day. A few weeks later, two new members sign up, all because they visited your stall during the day!

Building relationships takes time, but every connection brings you closer to a more inclusive and vibrant club community.
